If you don't want grubs destroying your lawn, might we recommend clover. Clover in the lawn actively deters grubs, the destructive larvae of various beetles that wreak havoc on grass roots. A robust growth of clover makes it a challenging environment for grubs to thrive in, as they prefer feasting on grass roots. In fact, they don't touch clover roots at all. Having clover roots intermingled with turf roots is a great way to keep grubs from populating the soil. Furthermore, clover attracts beneficial insects such as parasitic wasps, like the scoliid wasp (not aggressive stingers), which actively prey on grubs. This mutually beneficial relationship between clover and these helpful insects actively minimizes the grub population, decreasing the necessity for chemical pesticides and promoting a healthier and more robust lawn.
