Clover is amazing.
Up until the 1950s, clover seed was included with grass seed mixes sold in the United States. It was just a standard part of every yard in America. Then, after World War II, the chemical industry introduced the idea of a monoculture lawn, and biodiversity became shunned. But with that loss of biodiversity in our yards, and an increased use in chemical herbicides, we've seen a host of problems arise, including water and air pollution, degraded soils, a decline in pollinator populations, turf disease, turf pests and an explosion of health problems for people and pets.
The Clover is Not a Weed campaign is sponsored by Good Sweet Earth, a non-profit organic lawn company based in West Michigan. Want to support our work? Click here to donate.
